Vision 2020 is a church planting and multiplication initiative that aims to plant 30 healthy and multiplying churches among the least reached, unreached and unengaged people groups throughout the country of Myanmar by the end of 2020.

Myanmar is a country in Southeast Asia, bordered on the west by India and Bangladesh, on the north and north-east by China, and on the east and south-east by Laos and Thailand. Myanmar is a multi-ethnic country composed of eight major national ethnic groups: Bama, Chin, Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Mon, Rakhine and Shan, with more than 135 different ethnic groups, cultural traditions, and tribal dialects that reflected cultural differences in communication.

Buddhism as a state religion, Myanmar is under the category of the unreached nations within the 10/40 window countries. Myanmar is a multi-religious plural society with its population of 54.7 million, and the major religions are Buddhism with 89.20%, Christianity with 6.2%, Islam with 4.3%, Hinduism with 0.5%, and others like Nat (Spirit) worshipers are 1.1%.

The fulfillment of Christ’s Great Commission requires the multiplication of Christlike disciples and vibrant and healthy churches among every people group. For leaders who are preparing to serve as native church planting missionaries, they will have the opportunity to receive advance church planting training provided by School of Missions and Church Planting at Agape Leadership University.
